More out of curiosity than anything else, I'm wondering if there is a
particular method/program/procedure that one might use to search open
ftp servers. I've recently discovered that there's a veritable treasure
trove of stuff sitting out there for the taking, but don't know how one
would go about finding said stuff unless you already knew where to look.
If it can be done at all, can you search by keyword, or do you need to
look for something specific, like a particular file name?

Essentially, what I'm asking is if there a way to Google (or the
equivalent) ftp servers?

TIA for the edumacation.

Thanks, Susan. Just what I was looking for.

In fact, I believe it was a mention you made a while back about "doing
an ftp search" or some such that got my curiosity aroused in the first
place.

Just passing the info on - I learned about FTP searches by reading ACF,
the links were originally posted by others in the group. :)

IMO a "search tips" page on the PL site would be nice - I'm sure the
experts won't share *all* their secrets ;) but we could show some of the
basic info, list a few links. . .
