Embarrassed about this but I am going nuts trying to find where the
downloaded Vista iso went on my hard drive. I tried using the search
function but keep coming up empty. I used "free download manager" and
wherever is default is where it is at. Where is it? Thanks ahead of time for
replies.

Did you choose the "Software" option for the download type? Perhaps you
downloaded the page instead.

Thank you all, found it. Shows 2.52GB in a WINRAR format. I hope that is the
correct one.

I had the vefy same issue.
I downloaded both X86 and X64 and the download manager recognized their
existance but they were missing...totally.
Searched with no results.
Made corrections to IE7 as mentioned by another user, still not there.
Someone mentioned that it may have been put into a side folder or "Sandbox".
Vista lost it.
When I tried to download a second time, the D/L manager found them and
asked" File already Exists, Would you like to overwrite file"?

Finally, I deceided to stop trying to download one version of Vista, (RC-1),
from another version of Vista,
(Pre RC-1), and downloaded it from my XP build.
The files were available immediately and I burned them to DVD with no
issues.
The X64 version, although larger than the X86 version loaded quickly with no
issues.

It has the winrar icon, because you have set winrar to handle iso-files, but
winrar cannot use this file other than open it.

You can load it in winrar to have a look into the iso, but you should nor
change/Add/remove any files from the iso.
That will destroy the Image and make the DVD unbootable or causing BSODS at
a later time.
Burn this straight away with your BurningProgram -> Image to Disk.

I have had a similar experience. It was frustrating to spend time
downloading and then to "lose" the file. However, I decided to boot into XP
and search the drive containing Vista. I found it! It was stored at:

I:\Users\Ron\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\Virtualized\C\Users\Ron\Desktop\vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x86fre_client-lr1cfre_en_dvd.iso

Now I think I have figured out that the "Virtualized" folder is something
concerned with the new security features. But how does one ever access them
from within Vista? What is the purpose of a folder that can't be accessed?
Do files placed in this virtual space remain there forever? How about a few
words of wisdom from the more knowledgeable members of this group?

A word of thanks to all those that contribute to this group. I have learned
a lot even when the discussions get a bit heated.

Anyone else noticed that the readme file with the RC1 download if you look
inside the ZIP file says it is for VISTA BETA 2? <g>

I am having the exact same problem. Download appeared to have worked OK
but the file is nowhere to be found.

I download to the desktop. Easy to find then.
