But even then, it's not easy to get rid of it again, since you can only replace it with another Asian font, not a Western/Latin font.
Oops! Forgot about one ridiculously simple way: Apply some Western language (English, German, ...) in "Tools > Language > Set language..." and Word will apply the Western font again, getting rid of Batang (or SimSun, MS Mincho, ...).

Klaus
Also note that -- if the document doesn't contain Asian text -- Word probably applied "Batang" for no good reason at all.
Word keeps different fonts for Western and Asian text, and often (say when you use Ctrl+Spacebar to remove manual formatting), it'll decide that some text must be Asian and applies the Asian font, which often is Batang.
You can find the text formatted in Batang only if you have support for some Asian language like Chinese installed: The font dialog then has a separate box to search for the Asian font.
But even then, it's not easy to get rid of it again, since you can only replace it with another Asian font, not a Western/Latin font.
The only way I've found to remove Batang is to cut the text and paste as unformatted text, possibly in a macro.

Klaus
