WHen I do a Search on a website with the FP Search page, will it search subwebs as well? If so, is
there any way to make it NOT search subwebs? Or better yet, just a certain subweb?

Or is there a way I can designate one particular folder (and all it's subfolders) that they NOT be
included when doing a serach?

Thanks,.

Hi,

What is the OS of the server?

Under IIS Windows you can ask your ISP to establish a search index catalog
to control what is searched.

If your host doesn't use Index Server (Windows), then default FP search
component is limited to search on the specific web it is inserted into.

My site does use IIS 5.0. What would I need to ask them for in order to use that search feature?
Can I do it through FP or is it something they have to do manually and have to update manually for
me?

Or can I still do it through FP and control it myself?

You have to ask your host to create a index catalog for your account. You
can not do this.

Mr B:

As was said, you must contact your host to build a catalog in Index Server.

And when I request this, should I be able to specify certain folders to not be included to only
search what I want to search?

You should be able to do so, depending on if your host chooses to do so.

Yes, but your host may only offer to create a standard catalog the cover
your entire site, in which case you will need to post to the Index Server
newsgroup for how to use ASP to only return info from the catalog for a
specific folder.
