All of a sudden, everytime I left click on a desktop shortcut to a file or
folder, or directly on a file or folder, it opens directly to the search
results screen and is waiting for me to enter what I want to search that
folder for. If I right click I can still open the folder if I click on
"open". What I noticed is that on the drop down menu when I right click, the
prompt "search" is now at the top and in bold and now open is second in line
and not bold. I went to tne folder options and checked everything out to the
best of MY knowledge and do not see anything wrong. Just for the heak of it I
reset all my folders to default but that did not fix it.
Where do I go to put this sequence back to the way it is supposed to be.

I looked there but do not see any question that is just like mine. Some sound
close but I am not sure. Do I want to remove the search assistant?

Hi

Click on that file and download it to your hard disk. Then double click on
the file from your hard disk and the contents will entered into the Registry
to stop Search opening when you click on a folder.

I am not sure what happened but last night before I recieved your last
message the problem almost completely went away, EXCEPT for when I click on
"C" drive in the "My Computer" list. I don't know why it stopeed on
everything else but that one situation. I did go back to that site you
recomended and clicked on one of those things that sounded like my problem.
Yhe only thing is I don't know what those are and I don't know how to use
them. But when I clicked on one it asked if I wanted to save it or open, I
said save. The screen flashed and it said something about the registry and I
clicked yes or ok and that was it nothing else happened after that. but that
might have fixed it. Like I said I am new at this more complicated stuff.
Why not the "C" drive and how do I get it back to "open".
