I am trying to put a search function in my site to search just the site. I
went to search - active element - search form. When I tested it, the
function did not work. Is there something I need to do?

Your site must be hosted and accessed from a web server that has the FP extensions installed and the
search function of the extensions configured.

How do I go about finding if this is the case. Should I assume that my site
is not any of these if the search doesn't work? If it is not, is there a way
that I can get these requirements?

The extensions *are* installed on your remote site.
Did you http publish it to the remote web or FTP it?
You say it did not work, can you please be more specific. Error messages,
etc.

I only loaded the search function onto one page because I wanted to test it
first. It is located at www.mckeanfamilyresources.net/Resources.htm When
you type something into the box and click go, I get an error message that
says

Eror 404: Not Found!
Your browser cannot find the document corresponding to the URL you typed in.

That is way it doesn't work... You must publish it via FP's File Menu | Publish Site command to
http://www.mckeanfamilyresources.net . The live/remote Server must have the FP extensions installed,
and since you have used FTP, you might have corrupt them, which will require them to be re-installed
for your account.

You cannot FTP your site that has extensions installed, and uses web
components such as the search feature. You must use http method of
publishing.

Chances are the extensions are now corrupted, and you need to contact your
host to run a health check or reinstall them.

Then, republish your web using the http publishing.

Do *not* ftp to a site with the extensions installed.
