My beef is that the major search and find Internet sites ( Yahoo, Google,
Ebay ) have been /gummed up/ by mimics.
For example, search for a car. You will find all kinds of entries for
$0.00 just so the search is always hit by someone searching by price --
even though the actual car may be $20000 or more! Or else go into Ebay
motors. Motors as in /cars/ -- not accessories, not car parts. But in
Motors there are tons of parts, not real cars. This reminds me of
mimicry in animal behavior where a species tries to mimic another to say,
make itself look like a poisonous snake without having to evolve the
energy using poison equipment.
Or in Google. When I search for information I want a web page I can read
that has answers. I don't want a link to a book in amazon. Nor do I want
link to site where I have to register to get the answer ( hint, hint:
'Experts Exchange' ).
Search, sell and auction companies are going to have to get a lot more
sophisticated to weed out the mimics.
