every time I click a folder in the right pane, a "Search
Results" window is displayed instead of opening the
selected folder. What do I do to prevent Windows 2000 from
doing this?
Thank you.

Download and run the Microsoft Windows Cleanup utility, you may have an
aborted program install somewhere. You will have to reinstall any program
you have to uninstall with this utility.

Hi Santiago,

This problem can occur after using the Edit File Type dialog box for the Drive or
File Folder registered file types. For the resolution see the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article (although written for Windows XP, the resolution
also works for Windows 2000).

KB321186 - Search Companion Starts If You Double-Click a Folder
