Search result lists every file twice

it's "normal" I'm afraid. each time a file meets your search criteria it
gets added to the list, even if it's already on the list.

search looks at both filenames and other "hidden" meta-tags for files, and
if the file matches in both areas it'll be listed twice. This happens a
lot w/ music files, where both the filename (usually the song's title) and
the tag (which contains the song's title) match.

I'm afraid MS's search engine is pretty pathetic and slow, hopefully we'll
get a nice update to it in SP2.

Question for MS:

why the hell are filename seaches so damn slow??!!! Surely the system
can cache up the directories and search thru all filenames in under
a second. It wouldn't even take a lot of memory, dirs are small. Win98
was about 10x faster than XP. If indexing service had an option to just
cache filenames, and not content, I'd turn it on. I'll bet 99% of users
don't have indexing service turned on. this should be an easy task, come
on MS!!
