I cannot figure out how to reset or clear the field in ' Searching for files or folders', I'll go to search from something and all my old searches come up under whatever letter i type in, i tried the autocomplete and clearing the forms, but it still doesn't work, any ideas? Thanks.

try clearing your history in IE options.

Try this
Goto internet options ->content click auto complete button and clear forms
and passwords
