Search Preferences

Note recent anomaly with number of search items returned changing from
my setting of 100 back to 10 each time I open IE without an intervening
reboot. Is there an explanation and some way to 'beat it (10 at a time
makes for a slow hunt)?
 
Maybe cause is a disabled cookies where search engine stores settings,
i mean number of search results?
