I'm missing my search items in the start menu. The search
option is in the start menu but there items in it. So when
I go to start - search there is nithing there. Is there a
way to get the search function back. I know you can access
the search function many different ways but I really want
it back in the start menu under search. Any help on this
would be great.
Thanks,
Ken

It may be that the local policy on your machine has been edited to prevent
access to the search.

I have looked all over to make the changes but can't
locate where I should make the changes. Can you tell me
where to do that.
Thanks,
Ken

Assuming: * W2K (likely similar in XP) * That your system is not
part of a Windows Domain * Administrator account logged on:

Start, Run, gpedit.msc
Then at:
User Config./Admin. Templates/Start Menu & Taskbar/
Remove Search Menu from Start Menu
set it "not configured" if it is otherwise.

Well I went into admin and followed the directions and all
the policies are set to not configured. I can access
search by using Windows Key and F. I can also search from
within IE. The search option is in the start menu just the
shortcut is missing. If you can think of anything else I
should try please let me know. Thanks for the help.

I think we thought the "Search" entry on the Start menu was
missing... not that you didn't say "items"/ :-)

I don't have an answer to "no contents" in the Start/Search sub-menu.
If no answers, re-post the question for some fresh eyes on the
problem.
