Search functionality

I have discovered that, when using search in explorer - rightclicking on a
folder, when searching for contents in *.cs (C# files) nothing is ever
found. If I search in any other file type (C++ etc.) I have never any
problems.

Anybody experienced this??

P.S I have XP pro, with Win 2000 Pro I never had any problems with this

XP Search can handle text strings in file types that are registered and
that have filters installed. You can add file types with some editing of
the registry. See Doug Knox's directions for this:

Double checking that page, I see that Doug has also created a utility to
automate the adding of file types to Search. A download link for this tool
can be found on this page:

Thank you, this seems to work fine.

I thought that the search tool should be transparent to what extension I was
searching in, I mean I have been able to search in any type of file before
regardless who recognize the extension - also specifying *.* would cause a
search in all files. But has been with W2K ofcourse - could there be a diff
in XP??

Yes, it's different in XP. I think the intention of the change was to cut
down search times. Unfortunately a side effect of that change included a
loss of function.
