Hi..

Does anybody know how to make search for a wild cards search? Example i want
to search for "John*" which it should return the result of John Mainley,
John Master and so on?

Please advise..

Hi

Yes it will, e.g

=SEARCH("John*",B1)

OR

=SEARCH("John?",B1)


If you meant the Find method via Edit>Find that too takes wildcards

If you're doing Data|filter|autofilter, click on a dropdown and choose Custom.

From there, you can specify "begins with", "ends with" or even "contains".

Not quite automatic, but very useful for any user to learn.
