Is there a way to build an access database for contacts and to be able to use
a search function/macro/button to quickly search and find a specific contact
in a table?

Yes. Access wouldn't be much of a database if you couldn't!

What kind of "search" do you want to do? Just on the name? If so, use
a Form with a combo box; the combo wizard will build one for you "use
this combo to find a record". For more elaborate searches, consider
using the "Query by Form" technique (on the menu under Records), or
program your own QBF.
