Hey,

Is there a problem with the search function? I've been
getting a message that it's under construction or
something, but this has been for weeks.

Well, MS probably don?t want users to search.... ;)
Or they saving money, profit was $2 billion I think 1st quarter. ;)
Use Outlook Express or some other real news reader
Then you can search.

Viewing these Newsgroups with an NNTP Newsreader

Since these are private newsgroups, your server will require you to
logon using the following information:

* Server: privatenews.microsoft.com
* Account name: privatenews\spyware
* Password: spyware
* Note that the password is case-sensitive.

Viewing these Newsgroups through Outlook Express

1. Launch Outlook Express
2. Select Tools - Accounts
3. Select Add & click News
4. Enter Your Name
5. Enter an alias (you may want to consider avoiding posting with
your real e-mail alias, as these newsgroups are exposed publicly
through the web interface. More about e-mail aliases and privacy.)
6. Internet News Server Name Page - enter privatenews.microsoft.com
and check "My news server requires me to log on". Click "Next".
7. Enter Account name - privatenews\spyware
8. Enter password (case-sensitive): spyware
9. Click Next & Finish
10. Close and download the newsgroups.

Andre Da Costa pretended :
The Search function in OE is lousy.

Well, better then nothing. ;)

I have been testing MesNews fora while and it is a great newsreader.

Have you tried the search in Thunderbird? I had to re-configure OE to
do searches. My problem with OE is that it doesn't download every
header even though I have that checked. After a day or two, the
original posts are gone but the replies are there! Strange.

I am so use to Outlook Express I don't think I am able to try an
alternative, but thanks for suggesting. Maybe I should really check it out
though.

I forgot to point out that the Thunderbird search is worse! Unless I'm
doing it wrong - could be. OE still does it better for me.
