Search function unavailable in MS Explorer

On a Windows XP Professional with SP1 & all fixpacks from
WindowsUpdate installed, Search function in MS Explorer
is no more available, nor from the menu nor with <F3>...

Would some one have a idee...?

Enable or Disable the Custom Search Page in Internet Explorer

Delete the key "Use Custom Search URL"
