Search for files or folders not working.

At a computer last night I needed to delete some files but couldn't remember
where they could all be. I know the name and extension, that's not the
problem. I wanted to do a search for the files but when I clicked on search
from the start menu, nothing happened. I tried Start-Search and right
clicked on Start then Search. Can anyone think of any reason why Seach
isn't doing anything?
