Search folder & Startup Menu

The Search item has disappeared from the right pane of my Startup Menu. I
have no idea how I lost it, but it was there when I first got my computer
(Vaio, running Vista Home Premium). I now have to go to Help & Support to get
access to it. I use the Advanced Search facility, so I can't just open up any
folder. Does anyone know how to pin it back onto the Start Menu? I've even
tried going to Open Taskbar & Start Menu properties and selecting Use Default
Settings on the Start tab - no luck! Help, please! (I think I do mysterious
things sometimes because I'm not quite used to the touchpad on my notebook.)

Would be grateful for advice.

Search link (present in the right-hand side of the Start menu) is removed when you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1. Also, the Search context menu item is removed.

There are other ways to launch search. For more information, read this article.

If you wish to restore the Start menu Search link, check this post for a registry edit.

Way cool, Ramesh and raymundka! What a wealth of helpful info you guys have
given me - thanks so much. In fact, Windows-F does it all, really -
brilliant! But I'm going to look carefully at those links you gave me,
Ramesh, and get better informed.

You're welcome, Benzmum.
