Search flags document as modified?

I'm using MS Word 2002. When I open an existing file
and search for something, when I then try to close the
file, it prompts me if I want to save the changes
when I haven't made any changes. Very annoying...

Is there a way to suppress this from occurring?

What you're describing can be caused by certain add-ins or other features,
