Can somebody explain what happened to Explorer on my WinXP (Dutch) SP3 setup.
I use the Search function all the time. This morning I selected
All files and directories (I am translating from Dutch).
Filled in: Kinderkamp D*.mpg
and specified all Hard Drives (in this case C, E and F).
Rather than finding the one and only file that meets that criteria, it found
more than 100 files, most of which do not meet the criteria. For instance:
Kinderkamp Promotie.zip
Dusting.mpg
Dit is Jezus idee.mpg
Kinderkamp Folder 2009.pdf
It also found the file I was looking for: Kinderkamp DELETE.mpg
Why in the world is Explorer suddenly giving me results that apparantly meet
the requirement that there is a "D" somewhere in the file name. I am at a
loss to explain why this search found a bunch of files with doc and dot
extensions, when I clearly specified only to find mpg extensions.
The search function is now useless. I would never have changed this if it is
a setting, so why did Windows get changed. More importantly, how do I change
it back so the Search function works the normal way; i.e. using the full
search phrase that I enter, rather than parts of the search phrase.
Please help,
David
