search feature will not load

Can anyone help? When I click on the search button on the
toolbar the search panel comes up but it says action
cancelled! I've tried different settings but if I can get
it working it won't give me previos searches or choice of
web pages address or things of that nature like it used
to even though those choices are checked. Anyone with any
idea?
