Dear users

I have created a search facility for my website which has
now stopped working!!!!

I received an error MSG that told me that I needed to
publish the site using a web server with server extensions
activated. I have checked and these extensions have been
ticked. I have gone on to publish the whole site but when
I have used the search facility it comes back with the
same publishing error???

Does anyone have any clues where I might be going wrong or
have not done yet?

Thanks in advance
Chrissie

You have checked on the online web to see if they have been ticked?
You probably need to contact your host.

Do you have Index Server installed and running, and have you created a Index
Server Catalog for the specific web site?

Hi Tom

Don't want to sound silly but where do I found out if it
is installed and where it should be installed and is it
part of front page extensions.

Is the indexing server catalog used by front page to
collect ceratin words from the website to search on?

Thanks
chrissie

You have to have admin access on the server to check/change the status of
Index Server.

Index Server is not controlled by FP. If Index is installed and running,
then creating a Index Server Catalog, will allow Index Server to indexes the
pages within a web site. When the FP extensions are installed on a Windows
IIS server, by default the FP search component will automatically use the
catalog created by Index Server or generate an error if not running, etc.
