I want to thank everyone who answered my
question about first page at a web site.
Nobody answered my second question asking
what page, or pages, do search engines scan for
listings. My first page (which has to be index.htm)
is an Enter page. My second page will have a lot
of text, needed for getting listed. Do search engines
search more than the index page?

(e-mail address removed)

Search engines will index all pages that it can get to from the home page or any other page it hits
first.

Search engines scan all pages in the site unless directed not to.
They "follow" the links on your pages, starting with the default page.
