Ever since I installed the 2nd service pack for XP I have
been having problems with IE.

Not only did it re-index my personal bar *GRRRRRRR!*, but
when I use a search engine (usually asp types) and follow
a link I can't get back to my original search results.
This is driving me nuts as I do a lot of searches.

I haven't changed anything, so what the hey-ho-hiddley is
going on?

Help!

I'm disappointed to see you haven't gotten a result to this post, as I'm
being driven nuts by the same problem. After installing SP2 for XP Home, I
have the following problem scenario:

Go to a site like newegg.com and choose a product category, like LCD
Monitors. Choose a search parameter, like 17" monitors and click on the
search button. In the results, choose any link to a product. Now click on
the back button and you get 'Page can not be found' white page error and have
to refresh and start the search over.

This is driving me nuts - never happened before XP SP2, can't find anything
in MS Support - how do I report this error to MS???

Hi Geoff :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Back Button - "Page has expired" error when using back button
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_10.htm#back

or....

Can't use back button - Page won't release for back return:

Either press Shift and click or right-click and choose Open in New Window to
avoid getting trapped on a page and can't use back button to return to
previous page.

or........

You can click the down arrow on the right side of the Back button and select
any page in the list. This will take you back to that page and return the
back button for normal use.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your reply.

Got into a support chat with MS, and was surprised to find it was simply a
cacheing issue. I deleted all temporary internet files, now it works like a
charm.

Thanks again for your help!
