Somehow all of my MSN searches have been re-routed to a
site (http://search.xrenoder.com). This site has some
fairly nasty pop-ups associated with it. How did this
happen in the first place and how can I change IE back to
it's original form?

You might try starting up a new search box at the side of
the internet explorer window. At the upper right hand
corner there is a customize button. There you can change
the different search options. I'm not sure how much help
this is, but it's a start.

Browser hijacker parasite CoolWebSearch.
Get and unpack the following and run the CWSredder.exe.

SpyBot Search and Destroy should remove them.

Ad-Aware is also a good "adware" remover.

Keep these things up to date as new nasties come along just like
viruses/worms.

Get a good HOSTS file to stop theses nasties.

SpywareBlaster also stops these nasties.
