Search engine not working

I loaded Webroot spysweeper and in using it there were conflicts that
arose and I was told by my ISP that is the problem. I uninstalled it and now
no search engines work by anyone, (page cannot be found), and none of my
players work either, (Real Player). I was wondering if the old spyware reset
some things to make my computer work like it is? The only way to navigate is
to write in the complete address in the address bar, but cannot search.
Please help and recomend a good spyware that does not cause a conflict.
I'm running Windows ME at 1 GHz, use Microsoft IE.
