Hi _ Steve H_,
Just a link to something I found the other day which has proved to be
incredibly useful.

http://www.searchengineshowdown.com/bmlets/

For example, there's one that can copy selected text and open up a
google search on the text...or just pop up a text entry box .

Simple, neat and free.

In addition, if you want one that search alt.comp.freeware in Google for a
selected word:

acf Google search bookmarklet:
http://fido.altervista.org/bm/bookmarklets.php

I made also another for Google define:, useful to search the web for word
definitions.

Ciao,

Hi _ Steve H_,

acf Google search bookmarklet:

Cheers!

What I could really do with is one that puts the selected text in
quotes...I often search on names, and text in quotes cuts down on
spurious hits.

Talking about Bookmarklets....

I wanted to list AND select all the links in a web page. I assumed
"List All Links" at
http://www.bookmarklets.com/tools/data/index.phtml#allLinks

would be the one to get. It seems to work at the site BUT when I save
it as a bookmark it doesn't work in Firefox .9.1 .

Has anyone got it to work in .9.1 ? Or does anyone know of another
Firefox add on that will do the above ? Firefox already shows all the
links in a page via the page properties BUT it doesn't allow cut AND
paste of all the links.

The same goes for "linky". One can select multiple links but when one
tries to paste them only one gets pasted. :-(

Regards, John.

"List All Links" works for me in FF 0.9.3 and IIRC worked also in 0.9.1.
Maybe something went wrong when you saved it...

ISTM that "linky" doesn't have an option for copying multiple links to the
clipboard, only to open them in new tabs or windows.

Good idea!
Do you want it for a generic Google search or only for the define: ?
The definitions for multiple words are few, however Google, if can't find a
definition, then prompts you with a link for a web search for that text.

I'm working on it: I'm able already to get it working locally, but when I
upload the page to my site it doesn't work. Maybe there's some conflict with
the new script and the HTML code. I hope to solve it! :-)

A generic search, I guess.
If I'm trying to find info on, say, Fred Bloggs a normal search just
clutters up the result with hits for just Fred or Bloggs. I find a
couple of quotes really helps to narrow things down.

OK. I've done it: it's called QuotedGoogleSearch.

http://fido.altervista.org/bm/bookmarklets.php

It searchs the web for the selected text already within quotes.
If no text is selected, in the dialog box you have to double-click on the
prompt, so your text will go between the qotes already present.

Oooh yes!!
Just perfect - what a star!
That's a pint I owe you - many thanks for that.

Golly Maria, you sure are clever. :-)

That bookmarlet for ACF is very neat as well. I would like to have
that for a different newsgroup. Would you mind if I copied what you
have done and made the necessary alterations please ?

That "Your browser does have JavaScript enabled" is also very clever
indeed. Well done. :-)

Thanks for the feedback. Now, thanks to your post, I have investigated
things more and got it working ! :-) :-)

All I needed to do was bypass Proxomitron.

Oh, thanks, I wish I were a bit more! :)

Certainly! I think I don't own anything: I took the ideas from Steve Kangas.

If can I ask, I'd like you and anyone else point out my English errors in
that page, if you find them.

Thank you again :))
