Hello,
I have a web hosted by Go Daddy and it requests authentication for Search
engine use and forms. This hasn't happen on other web servers, all the Go
Daddy says is it's a microsoft problem. I have uninstalled extensions and
reinstalled but that hasn't helped. Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Ken Wagner

It is not a Microsoft problem. It is a permissions problem on the GoDaddy
server. If they think it is an MS problem then you need to look elsewhere as
this is administrator 101 stuff. What this means is the permissions on their
web server are not set correctly. Normally, if the forms ask for a password
it's because the permissions are wrong on the file that the form tries to
save the results to. If the search form, however, also has problems, it's
usually because the permissions on the server extensions themselves are
incorrect and this is not something that you can tinker with since you are
not a server administrator.

Here is the web site in question http://www.krwsoftware.com

I don't see any "authentication" problem but I do get an error when I try
the search with looks like a permissions issue.

Error from search: can't open the word hash file
/var/chroot/home/content/k/w/a/kwagnerdiver/html/_vti_txt/default.wti/All.dct

No documents found. Please try again.

As Mark said, this is Godaddy's problem. It's not an MS problem.

Hello David,
I reloaded the entire web site, including the frontpage extensions. Now the
email form works and I don't get the hash error message. However I don't get
any results from the search engine on the page. I get "No documents found.
Please try again." I have recalculated hyperlinks on both my computer and
the server, and nothing changed. Any suggestions???? I have sent an email
to Go Daddy but they just like to blame Microsoft for the server extensions.
So I am looking for conformation that it's a problem on the host server??

Thanks for the help.
