Search companion

I had read somewhere to disable the search companion and get the classic search windows.I think there is a setting in the registry, but i don't remember.Any ideas

Hi there deviator,

Disable Search Assistant

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Cabinet
State. In the right pane, look for or create a string value called: Use
Search Asst set the value to: no

Alternatively, you may try this patch:

To disable Search Assistant:
Download TweakUI - part of Microsoft's Power tools for XP.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
In TweakUI, under Explorer, check 'Use Classic Search in Internet Explorer'.
