Search Companion

Hi,
I've been fighting this all night and need some help.

Whenever I try to do a search, on the harddrive that is, using start/search nothing happens. No window, no error, nada.
I click Search nothing. I hit F3 and nothing. I've tried a few registry edits, and patches and still nothing.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do next?
