I have Windows XP running IE 6.0 (plus whatever the latest updates from MS). This PC is configured for 4 users. Some spyware/adware took over the PC for a while. After cleaning it of all these things (and making some changes through the registry), everything seems normal. The last thing is that my Search pane is always open (on the left side) everytime I start IE. Even if I "X" it out and then close IE, it always starts opened again! Is there a value that I need to change? Help! Thanks! John

John,
Did you scan *each* of the users for parasites?
Possibly you still have some left-overs?

No. I only ran the ad-aware program with two users. I'll try to run it for all users. BTW that search pane that is open on the left side of IE is not the normal search companion. When I click the mouse on the green arrow I can see that it wants to go to "quickcrawler.com" and it ridercts to some website named "startium.com".

"startium.com".

Nothing on quickcrawler.

Use both of these removal tools.
