I assume you are going to start > search.
scroll down the right side to other search options.
select all files and folders. This should stay that way
until you change it again.
You also may want to change preferences > change files
and folders behavior to advanced.
There are some troubles with search companion, you may
want to set this to classic search behavior.
If all else fails, there are some solutions on Kelly's

Do a search for 'search companion'
