search companion

when I double click some files and folders to open them the search companion comes up instead of opening the file or folder. I have gone into folder options, and search companion options but see no way to turn it off. In order to open these files or folders I have to right click and scroll down the menu to open. This is also something that is wrong, Open should be at the top of the right click menu not Search right?
