I'm using XP Home Edition.
Search Companion does nothing when initiated.
Checking via Alt+Ctrl+Delete indicates that it's "Not
Responding".
It used to work!
Have performed a defrag - still nothing.
I notice that others have had a similar problem.
Can someone please point me at an appropriate MS fix
(assuming there is one!).

.. Locate the file "srchasst.inf"
(You may have to adjust Explorer Folder Options>View tab to Show hidden
files and folders)
.. Or you can click Start, Run and enter %SystemRoot%\inf to open directly
to the inf folder
The default location is C:\Windows\Inf\srchasst.inf
.. Once you locate the file, right click and click install.
.. Browse to the "I386" folder on your XP CD.

See why doesn't search companion work

Hope the above assists.

Taurian,

Doesn't appear to have worked.
Search continues to hang, yet hard-drive is doing
something (?!).

Thanks anyway.
