Search Assistant failing

I haven't been able to find an answer to this in the
Microsoft knowledge base, by using google.com, or in any
newsgroups.

When using the Search Assistant (the "Search" button in an
explorer window) at times it won't find files.

(Incidentally, I am including quotes in the following
sentences just to indicate my file and folder names,
they're not actually part of the file or folder name.)

Here goes...

I have a file "dxlib.cpp" contained in the folder:

"c:\check_me"

(i.e. the full path is "c:\check_me\dxlib.cpp"

Now if I am in "c:\", and Search for "dxlib.cpp" then it
WILL find it.

But, if I rename the folder to:

"c:\check me" (with a space)

or

"c:\check+me"

then doing a Search from "c:\" will NOT find the
aforementioned file.

Does anybody have any advice on what could be happening
(and a possible fix) - is it anything to do with using
spaces and the "+" symbol in folder/file names?

If this is mentioned in a Microsoft Knowledge Base
article, if you could let me know the number that would be
most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Simon.

Thanks for the reply. Though my problem may be related, it
is not the same as that described in the other thread.

Can anybody reproduce my problem, or suggest what I do
next?

By the way, I have Windows 2000 SP4.

Have a good weekend,

Simon.
