Search and Favorites on Toolbar

Any time I click on either the Search or Favorites button on the IE6 toolbar,
I receive an error message that explorer has encountered a problem and needs
to close. I have run trend micro, avast, and ad aware and still have
problem. also deleted all temporary internet files. Any ideas?
