What do I have to do to get Windows XP to find a Seagate STD624000N external
tape drive?

The tape drive is hooked to a SCSI card. The scsi card is recognized by the
system.

Its like I need a system driver for the tape drive but I can't find one
anywhere.

Any ideas?

Should it?

Just try your backup application, maybe. Novel idea, I know.

I tried my backup application. It did not recognize the tape drive. Thats
my problem.

How do I get XP to recognize the tape drive? I can't find any XP drivers.
Anyone have any experience with this hardware?

When you boot up the computer, and the SCSI card details post, can you
see any reference to the tape drive? At least the model should come up,
together with its ID.

If not, then chances are it's not terminated properly.

Which card do you have? (Exact model...)
