Hi all :o)
I want to upgrade my motherboard so that at a later date I can update the
proccesor .
I have over 768 MB of SDRRAM
All the motherboards I can find seem to take DDRRAM.
Are the any motherboard manufactures our there that still do SDRRAM
motherboards
or duel memory Motherboards so I can upgrade to DDRRAM at a later date .
I am in the UK
Thanks ................Gr@y

Is PC3200 faster then PC2700 sdram as the cl rating on 2700 is quicker
then on 3200?

Even if the latency is lower, it won't make that much
of a difference - the PC3200 will be faster.

CL2 parts process data a little quicker than CL3 parts
in that you have to wait one less clock cycle for the
initial data. However, after the first piece of data
is processed, the rest of the data is processed at
equal speeds. Latency only affects the initial burst
of data.

ECS makes a couple of dual memory boards, one of which is the K7S5A. I have
a K7S5A and although it has very limited overclocking abilities, it's quite
stable and has a built in LAN. I don't know if ECS is still making dual
boards, so you may have to look around on eBay and settle for a used one.

Sorry, motherboards now exclusively use DDR. And, no, there are no dual RAM
chipsets that use both SDRAM and DDR.

Howdy!

Not simultaneously.

But consider the SiS 735 ...

There's also a P4 chipset that does both. The Asrock motherboard I
just purchased does either SDR or DDR SDRAM.

I'm in the UK and I recently built a system using a ECS K7S5A Pro
motherboard that I bought from eBay.

They made three versions of the board, all of which are detailed here:

http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7s5a.html
http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7s5a_v3.html
http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7s5a_pro.html

All three K7S5A boards can accept a maximum of 1GB RAM from either 2 x SDRAM
DIMM (PC100 or PC133) or 2 x DDR SDRAM DIMM (DDR200 or DDR266).

They can all accept AMD Athlon XP, AMD Athlon and AMD Duron processors that
run at either DDR200 or DDR266. If you can find one, then you can use an
AMD Athlon 2600XP+ that runs at DDR266 for these boards.

ECS BIOS updates are available from
http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/bios.html , but if you want to overclock it
then the unofficial HoneyX BIOS is very useful (
