SD spot on tower won't read my picture card!! How do I fix this??

My computer was recently struck by lighting. I called Sony and they recommend
a system recovery and that's exactly what I did. Now, I have an orangish
amber colored light right by the spot on the tower labeled SD where my
picture card goes and it won't read it. Nothing pops up. What in the world is
going on?? ANy suggestions??!! Help is much appriciated : D

strike I'm surprised it will run at all.
