I have a windows 2000 server with SCSI hard drives in it. I need to replace
them with IDE drives............. I am going to GHOST them over to an IDE
drive. I know that when I do that, windows will not boot to then new drives
because it will
not have the drivers installed for the IDE Promise raid card I will use, nor
will the startup files be correct.
my question is, can i get windows to re setup and and install the correct
drivers without re installing the entire op system?? perhaps some way of
starting with the CD
and having it ask me for the drivers like it does on the original setup?
what is the procedure for that?
thank you

What if you install the Promise RAID card first, add the drivers, and verify
that the server can see the card? If you Ghost after that, then the drivers
will be there.

I used this method when going from an Adaptec 39160 card to a 2940UW in a
test server. At first it BSODed when starting the Ghosted drive in the test
server. I then installed the Adaptec 2940 into the real server, loaded the
drivers, then Ghosted again. It then worked fine on the test server.
