We have a SCSI UMAX Mirage II with a transparency adapter that quit
working. We have not added or deleted software or made any changes to
the system since the last time it was working. The computer is running
OS 9.1 and SCSI Probe fails to see the scanner, I have tried changing
the SCSI ID and have done a "Power-Cycle" as suggested on your website,
it is plugged directly into the wall outlet. At startup (both connected
& disconnected from the Mac) the reflective part of the scanner runs
through it's startup test correctly moving from one end to the other
and back, when the UTA light
begins to flicker the transparency adapter does nothing (it is
unlocked), the tube is lit, in fact they are both on all the time right
now. The UTA and READY lights flicker together 3 times then just the
UTA light will flicker 4 times, brief pause with both off then the
cycle begins again. I tried restarting the unit with the UTA
disconnected and everything is the same but the UTA tube is not lit.
Got any suggestions?
If the UTA is bad can we put a terminator on the back of the scanner
where it plugs in and use it without the UTA? If so what type of
terminator do I need.
A second problem is the power button sticks, can I safely spray a dry
lube in there to keep it from hanging up?
