Richard on Vista

New Vista Business Version installed. SCSI Controller and drives are
recognized and initiated properly during BIOS Startup but drives are not
recognized by the system once Vista starts.

Controllers are visisble and reported as working by Vista. I have tried to
uninstall and reinstall them without any change noted. Changing drive device
numbers is recognized appropriately by BIOS but again drives are not seen by
Vista.

Can someone help resolve this issue?

What format are the SCSI drives formatted with? If not with FAT32 or NTFS
can you reformat them with My computer/manage/drive manager?

JW,

Thank you for the reply. I was so frustrated with this situation that I
broke down the machine this morning and reinstalled all the hardware one at a
time and found the following problem.

One of the pins on the third connector on the SCSI cable had been bent out
of the way somewhere along the line. For whatever reason, XP allowed me to
continue working, but Vista just ignored everything on the controller. So
all the SCSI drives went missing not just the one with the interface problem.

I straightened the pin and all is well. One of the things that has always
kept me interested in the digital world is that you learn something new
almost every day. I've been banging around among these walls now for 42
years and it's as true today as it was back in the 60's.

Richard
