Looking for any recommendations on an external enclosure for 3 146GB Seagate
Ultra/320 68-pin SCSI hard drives, will be attaching to a Adaptec 2100S
Ultra/160 SCSI RAID controller card.

Found this Startech case below:

http://www.startech.com/ststore/itemdetail.cfm?ProductID=SCSI3CASE4&topbar=topbara.htm

Specs say it's only rated for Ultra/160, but since that's all the controller
is, I think I'm OK.

However, I'm not sure what the deal is with termination. Is the included
cable terminated? Do I need an external terminator?

Anyway - does anyone have any experience with this enclosure? Or maybe
someone can recommend another unit? I'm hoping to spend $200 or so.

Help!

Generally, the only difference, if any, between the U160 and U320 enclosure
would be a U320 rated cable. Though, rated for U160 the cable will be more
than adequate for your U320 drives since the total length of it is around
24".

If you were running a hot swap cabinet with SCA drives it would be more
critical to get a U320 backplane if you wanted those drives to operate to
specification.

However, I'm not sure what the deal is with termination. Is the included

The case in question has two external HD68 connecters on the back. You will
need to add a U320 terminator on one of those connecters. If you already
have a U160 terminator you can use that since the controller is only U160.
If you upgrade to a U320 controller and use a U160 terminator chances are
the controller only run at U160 and display this at boot-up.

Anyway - does anyone have any experience with this enclosure? Or maybe
someone can recommend another unit? I'm hoping to spend $200 or so.

It just a standard generic SCSI enclosure that you will find rebadged for
different manufacturers. Just find the least expensive.
