Hello and thanks in advance.
I recently upgraded to WinXP Pro from Win2000. My SCSI controller worked
fine with my scanner in win2k. But now, WinXP does not even see the
Controller. I tried to manaully add it but it still cannot recognize it
being there. The SCSI controller is an Adpatec AVA-1502AE. So either the
driver is not compatible or WinXP does not work with this Controller. I
cannot find a driver for this controller to work with WinXP Pro. I have a
older Microtek ScanMaker E3 Scanner. I tried changing IRQ, etc. but still
cannot even get to see the controller. I read somewhere that XP does not
work with some SCSI controllers, so not sure if this is true or not. Any
suggestings will be helpfull.

Thanks Again -> KJG

From what you write in your post, you've already researched drivers for
the controller and have not been able to find any for XP. If there are
no drivers for the operating system you want to use and the Windows
2000 drivers don't work, then I'm afraid you'll need to purchase a
controller that does work in XP. Before you spend time and money doing
that, make sure that your older scanner has drivers for XP also. If it
doesn't (and there is a good chance it doesn't), then don't bother
replacing the SCSI controller; replace the scanner with a USB one
instead.

If you have the 2000 driver you can try and see if XP will take it, does the controller show at all
in the device manager?

Hello David, Win2k driver will not work. The card does not show up in the
Device Manager, so I manually added it to the computer, but still not
working. Thanks for your support. Will see if the scanner has software to
work with WinXP then get another SCSI card.

Thank You!! KJG

Hello Brett, thanks for your support. I tried both those sites and still
cannot get the card to work. I think I need to get another card or scanner.
Thanks again.

You're welcome. I have a Microtek E3 also and you can find a good used
Adaptec 2942 or so for not much money on ebay and get a cable to connect
the scanner to the new card. I went through this a long time ago and I
just went with a regular SCSI card I had on hand - I did run SCSI and had
(still have <G>) a lot of them. It wasn't worth spending a lot of time
making it work so even if you have to buy one I'd go get it. Get an
Adaptec.

Feel your pain. XP is not providing drivers for ISA scsi cards, even
Adaptec. Even the later AVA 1505 AE adapter support is discontinued, no XP
driver.

I switched to an Adaptec 2930CU (PCI) to support my old scsi drives and a
later model Microtek X12 USL scanner. XP support was native for the 2930CU.
No driver needed. Know that this may be physically impossible if you have
no available PCI slots. My E3 scanner was damaged in a crosscountry move,
it worked well.
