How can I remove write behind caching on IDE drives that
are on a Gigabyte raid controller. The system sees it as a
SCSI device and the option is grayed out.

Hi Darren,

You could try searching the registry for the the parameter
UserWriteCacheSettings

It should be somewhere under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

If its set to 1, try setting it zero to disable. You need to reboot for it
to take effect.

It appears to work with my ide hard disk but the change doesn't appear in
the device manager disk properties sheet until after the reboot.

Backup the registry first and take a system checkpoint.

This is completely at your own risk of course. I take no responsibility for
any loss, material, financial or otherwise.

You have been warned !

Paul
