Problem with Access 2000 Opperating System Win ME
Upon oppening a long form that is longer than the screen page and using the mouse (scroll wheel) to scroll to the bottom of the form it is changing the record number of the form to the next record and so on, instead of going to the bottom of the form as should be. Our other computer using xp is working the way it should be. We have also changed the scrolling mouse type and the same thing happens. Default view is; Single Form. Any ideas would be appreciated Desperate.

The mouse wheel is designed to move you through records in a form. If you
want to scroll up and down the screen, hold your cursor over the up or down
arrow in your vertical scroll bar and then use your mouse wheel. As long
as it is in that particular location, it should work the scroll bar. Any
other place on the screen, it should scroll through records.

Rick thanks so much for the quick response. It will not work either. You can place the mouse anywhere on the screen and it changes records. If you manually scroll using the mouse it works. If you click the wheel and use the direction scrolling it also works but the moment you use the wheel the records change anywhere. The one mouse is nicrosoft wheel mouse and the other is Logitech both are with cords. Our other computer uses Opp system XP and a Genius mouse and it works !00%
Any further advice

this is a horrible problem but there are apparently work-arounds ...here is
a great site for advanced Access stuff that includes a mouse wheel
deactivation technique. I have not used it yet but would like to make it a
regular part of my database solutions (providing it works etc)

Is it possible that your Win XP machine has a special
function set up in your Mouse properties for the wheel?
Logitech usually includes software to customize mouse
buttons and a few other vendors do as well. As far as I
know, since at least Access 97 the wheel changed record
numbers, not scrolled through a form. I can't even get
the wheel to scroll in a module screen.

This is one of the glaring problems with Access. You can
scroll through a report, query, or table using the wheel,
and in design view in all cases, but in a form the mouse
wheel functions differently. There has been a loud and
persistent chorus of complaints for years about this
knuckleheaded "feature", but nothing from Microsoft other
than to say this is by design. There should be a way
within Access of disabling the record-scrolling feature,
but there is not, and there are no plans of which I am
aware to change this. There are third party workarounds,
but I have not tested them. Other responses to your
question contain links to Lebans' excellent site.
