Scrolling Text box in form

And I thought I was there until I decided I should test the comments
scrolling text box but if I type too much into it I get an error message
instead of the confirmation page.

I've tried

http://www.frontpagehowto.com/formatmemo.asp

but unfortunately it didn't seem to make any difference probably me doing
something wrong. Also I set the format to Memo in the database and text but
still no difference. Does anyone know what this format should be in the
database.

Any Ideas would be great

Thanks Shona

Hey,

Did you validate that scrollbox? If you did and you
entered too much into that field you will get an error
instead of the confirm page. I had this same problem a
while ago, I posted a similar question and got code from
one of the mvp's that limits the amount someone can enter
into a scrollbox. If you want it, I can give it to you.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. No I didn't validate the scrolling text box. I
wasn't particularly bothered about limiting the amount someone puts in but I
may be in the future so it would be great if you could post it to me.

Thanks Shona

If using Access, then the field needs to be Memo type if you want to allow
more than 255 characters.

Hey,

I think you are able to just change the scroll box
properties. The part I told you to put at the top stays
the same for all the boxes you made.

Unfortunately I still have the problem this is the error message

Cannot save value "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs. the quick
brown fox jumps over the lazy dogs. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy
dogs. " to database field "Comments"
Error Description: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check
each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

Error Number: -2147217887

Error Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

Yet if I remove the last The quick... it works. I set the characters to 400
but there are only 139

Any ideas would be great. I've set the database to Memo as Thomas
suggested.

Thanks Shona

Hi

Just to say I have managed to get it to work thanks for your help. I'm not
really sure what I did unfortunately.

Cheers Shona
