Scrolling problems...can anyone suggest how I can get back to a good place?

It's happening both in Internet Explorer and in my mail program,
Eudora. But not in Windows Explorer.

When I have a long pageful of information there's a scroll bar on the
right. If I click just above the down arrow at the bottom of the
scroll bar, it scrolls down considerably longer than one page worth.
If I click on the down arrow, it scrolls down considerable more than
one line (maybe 5-6 lines).

It would be so much nicer if the scroll worked the way it should.
Anyone know how I can make that happen?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It was one of the last updates that did it: 824145

Hi Gary,

It's caused by a recent Windows Update, specifically KB824145. Uninstalling
it is the only option at this point (control panel/add & remove). Microsoft
is aware of the issue.

As mentioned, one of the updates caused this. Have you tried Page Down on
the keyboard as a workaround until this gets fixed?

Hi

I used to have scrolling problems with control panel only. Hard to explain
exactly what it was like but safe to say it was well ****ed up. I no doubt
suspect the hotfixes / updates are to blame as they used to mess my computer
up regularly, but when I updated my video card drivers my scroll bar problem
in control panel went away.

Which leads to my question.

I have been experiencing the scrollbar problem for a couple weeks.

Went to Add/Remove thinking to remove kb824145.

Not listed.

OK, must have missed it. Right?

Went to update site. "No critical updates available".

Went to kb824145 site and downloaded/installed it.

Notified "successful" or whatever.

Re-booted. Still not listed in Add/Remove. No $NTUninstallkb824145$ folder
in Windows folder either.

Scanned registry for kb824145. Not found.

Any suggestions?

Gord

I never thought of that, Sharon. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks to you all for explaining that I wasn't going out of my mind.
I'll be patient.

Excellent! It's there.

Skipped right by it on my way to the Windows Hotfix list.

Thank you.

You're welcome. I missed it too. Someone on a BBR forum pointed it out to
me.

Hope this fixes it, because I'm having the same problem.
