Scroll too fast when selecting text

I have Windows 2000 and Word 2000. When I am selecting text and get to the
bottom of the screen, Word starts scrolling so fast that I have selected
text to the bottom of the document. It is impossible to just get one or two
lines on the following page. Is there a way to slow this down?

I have been using the Shift+arrow keys to achieve this and it works OK.
However, I find it hard to beleive that this is acceptable among the large
user base. There must be a setting I have overlooked.

Regards,

Jim

Try using the F8 key to select text. It begins the selection -- then you can use CTRL+ Down Arrow to select the next paragraph, next paragraph and so on. As you get closer to the end of your selection, you can use the up and down arrows and left and right arrows to land exactly at the end of a line or on an individual word in the document

You can also begin with the F8 key at the ending point of your selection and then press CTRL+HOME to select everything from that point back to the beginning of the document

Wow, what an awesome tip! I knew there was a reason I liked to come here. :

You can also click in the spot where you want the selection to start. Then, use the Scrollbar to move down until you see the place where you want the selection to stop. Hold Down Shift and click where you want the end of the selection to be. After you click, let go of shift
Later versions of Word fixed the annoying problem you described--not that it really helps at the moment. :
